Hi
My 2.2 year old is really enjoying listening to me telling stories at the moment. I though he might enjoy some audio books but I can't find anything suitable.

There are loads of websites with free downloads of e.g. aesops fables, but these are too complex for him.

Amazon doesn't seem to have anything appropriate either, but I feel I must be looking in the wrong place not to find anything!

I am looking for audio stories, in any genre, but without complex words and/or not told too quickly.

Please help!

Thanks

I don't think there is much for this age as most toddlers prefer to be able to see the story. But some picture books come with a CD, eg we have The Tiger Who Came To Tea with a CD version.

I've just found that all the Julia Donaldson stuff if available on Amazon, so I'm going to start there! They also had The Tiger Who Came To Tea in audio form so I'll try that too. thanks.

some of the CBeebies podcasts are good

Julia Donaldson set, which is cheaper at the book people. They also have this which looks good. My 6yr old is loving the Ronald Dahl set, and the enormous crocodile is popular with the 3yr old, if you can get it as a stand alone cd

I second the Julia Donaldson set and the enormous crocodile. My 3yo also likes George's marvellous medicine but don't think he would have at 2. He also loves the peppa pig ones. You can get on audible. They are short but he can listen again and again!

Percy the Park Keeper read by Richard Briers is absolutely lovely.

The Big Mog Storybook is also good apart from the alphabet story which is insanely annoying.

We did quite a bit of travelling with dd when she was little - one thing I did was record myself/DH reading stories as she'd always happily listen to those and it gave us a break. Another trick (from ex-childminder MiL) is to record the soundtrack off a favourite DVD (postman pat / thomas etc al)

And how could I forget Kipper

The Large Family set with CD is availble from TBP at the mo. Mine love Percy, Paddington, Brambly Hedge and Dr Seuss but are a bit older than yours.

Mine loved this age 2 and still now age 3.5. Teddy Tales

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 23/05/2015 23:33

I second Percy the park keeper.

We also have a good one called Nursery Tales read by Victoria Wood which is lovely and dd (now 2.10) has loved for a good few months now.

We inherited some truly hideous Thomas Tank ones which are atrociously read but have the songs on which dd loves Hmm

The book people have a load of Julia Donaldson books on CD for £10

I get my audio books from Audible - they have tons for children (although we now have quite a collection which can cause arguments between my 2 and 4 yo as to who chooses). They particularly like the Jill Tomlinson books and my naughty little sister stories.

My two are enjoying Paddington as well as others mentioned here.

My lot love the Hairy mcClary stories. I got them on audible.co. yk
