I read it in the late '70s or early '80s. It was about a girl, possibly called Persephone, who lived with her parents and ?brother? above a chip shop. There was a sister who went to a boarding ballet school. The brother also had a talent, but the main character did not, so people always said that she had beautiful teeth. The other siblings did too but they also had other talents whereas she did not. I think she had the attic bedroom.

Any ideas?

It was a youth club near The Fountain. Some of my neighbours went. They did am dram and music. I think there's a group on FB, with photos. I look from time to time to see if I recognise anyone (I haven't so far). Anyway, you might recognise some faces. The place became a tv studio eventually, and I think they're building houses there now.

Grin sorry, got a bit over-excited there!

I have hijacked the thread; I'm so sorry. I'll stop now; please go on talking about books, it was interesting reading and links.
