Oh the joy is immeasurable! We have just finished Charlie & the Chocolate (which they loved just as much as I did) so have started on the Enchanted Wood (I could almost read it by heart) and I have Stig of the Dump on order.

This is a very exciting time for me, I have been waiting so long for this.

It's fab isn't it. The DDs are loving Mrs Pepperpot and Paddington Bear and are obsessed with LHOTP (which DH reads because his Pa voice is fabulous). Sadly they have yet to be convinced of the charms of Milly Molly Mandy.

I am loving re-living all of my old favourites. DD prefers to read to herself most of the time now, but we do still share some of the old classics. :)

I couldn't wait to read the faraway tree books to DD, I also loved Mr Galliano's circus which I need to search for in the attic. Read the velveteen rabbit to DD another of my childhood favs, was v impressed that I didn't even cry until the last page

My son isn't old enough for stig of the dump but I can't wait to read it to him and flat Stanley.

He loves The giant jam sandwich :)

A lot of the Roald Dahl is a bit scary/gruesome for mine yet. They'll love it in a year or so and I can't wait.

I also have a book of poems that's almost falling apart that I carried around with me as a child - they love the poems from that (and 7 year old me has helpfully rated all of them at the bottom of each page)

Ah Flat Stanley! Mrs Pepperpot!

I have never managed to get anyone interested in Stig Sad

However, dd (9) is now hooked on Just William, and 4yo ds2 is enthralled by The Worst Witch (having it read to him, not reading it himself).

I am too lazy for Mrs Pepperpot because there are just too many words and it takes too long to read.

It's also fun discovering the ones you missed out on. I never read the Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf books as a kid but they are hilarious, and gloriously fun to read aloud.

My kids have also not gone for Little House On The Prairie, which is not fair, given that SIL's oldest son liked them to the point of going to World Book Day as Pa, with a beard and home-made axe.

I hope I still love Stig as much as I did then. I will be sad if they don't love him & his jam jar windows.

Mine loved Millie Mollie andy, even ds.
Ds also loved the Little House books, I didn't get to read them to the others as they stopped wanting me to read to them before they were old enough to read it to themselves.

Ds (7yo) is the only one I've got beyond very short chapter books, as they wanted to read to themselves from about 5yo.

I'm reading him all my old favourites: Currently we're on Cue for Treason and he's loving it. I know it's a good one when he's telling me that chapters are too short and he wants a second. He's still chuckling over "101 adjectives" as a punishment. Grin

Mine have Stig on audio book and loved listening to it in the car.

I was disappointed when I read them the Enchanted Wood etc. Not quite as good as I remembered. And the wishing chair books just made me realise it wasn't very good.

Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh went down a treat though.
