Best book about facts of life?

Sorry if this has been done to death I did have a quick look.

Dd (5) has been asking exactly HOW the man's seed gets to the egg. I've answered as straight forwardly as I can but would like to get her a book about sex and conception we can look at together.

we had a great 70s one with mum being taken to hospital in a bubble car (still smiling) but it seems to be out of print.

Thanks for any recommendations!

We had How did I Begin which I thought was good, simple, not too long, and to the point. (Unlike the Usborne book we had which missed out the critical bit as to how the sperm gets to the egg!!!)

I haven't seen it, but I suspect Lets Talk about where Babies Come From would also be very good. Certainly when your DD is a bit older (9-10 +) then I'd definitely recommend the 'next stage' book Lets Talk about Sex by the same authors.

Thanks! I'll take a look.

I came in on to ask this very question! How the sperm gets to the egg.

But i'd like to also talk about what the rest of the body does, to make it more matter-of-fact.

Can anyone recommend a book with both reproduction and the digestion, blood system, skeleton, etc stuff? I remember the Claire Rayner book but I don't know if this is still about or any good.

PS my DD is 4.

I was going to suggest "how did I begin" as we've just bought that for DS (4, nearly 5). It's very age appropriate for younger primary children.

OP I know the book you are talking about, we had it too. I actually found it online, I hadn't remembered QUITE how much detail was in there! You can enlarge the images here and read the whole thing:

OMG that's it! I still think it's brilliant. I think that picture wherethe baby is crowning might have prepared me for labour better than my NCT classes!

we recently bought mummy laid an egg by babette cole for dd2 she is 8yo but I think it would be suitable from 5. I nearly wet myself reading it and I think it may have put me off sex for life.

@zoodle Usbourne books do some good books like that about the body. We'e got a great one with flaps (!?) which is frequently looked at.
