My 10 YO DS is starting to come across as extremely shy. I never expected anything different as he's always been shy, I am shy, my DH is shy, we're all introverts (my DD not so much!). Anyway, whilst I know there's absolutely nothing wrong with being shy and I do tell him that, I have noticed that he is starting to miss out on things because of his shyness. I try to 'fake it till I make it' so a lot of people don't even know I'm shy, buy my DH is painfully shy and sometimes does the most embarrassing things out of shyness. I know it makes him suffer too. Anyway I'm rambling.
I was hoping for some book recommendations, fiction or not, for my son. I would like him to understand that there's absolutely nothing wrong with being the way he is, but there are mechanisms he can practice so that he won't let shyness hold him back.
I am after something more sophisticated than the 'what's happening to me' books which he's already read. He's an extremely advanced reader but of course I still want something age-appropriate.
I hope I'm making sense. TIA!
