DD has just got into reading and it's a joy to behold!

She loves the Fairy Animal series and the Secret Kingdom, though the latter is sometimes a bit too challenging.

Any other ideas?

Have you thought about non fiction? The usbourne beginners range has loads of different titles. They are quite short and the text is a good size.

I would definitely agree with the Claude series.

Also explore a brand new series from Shirley Hughes & her daughter Clara - the Dixie O'Day series.

Fortunately, the milk by Neil Gaiman is also a great one. It is a perfect cross over between picture book & chapter book to its familiar structure.

After that - move on to Oliver & the Seawigs. It's up for an award this week - BLue Peter Book Award - the winners will be announced on World Book Day.

I'd second the Claude books.

Also, look out for the new series by Shirley Hughes and her daughter Clara. They are fab!

First one is Dixie O'day in the Fast Lane;

2nd one comes out in the summer.
