Often discussed on the Mumsnet Talk boards this series is perfect for Wimpy Kid fans. My daughter aged 8 loved this book and spent the the time she started reading it carrying it round the house catching a quick read, reading it in bed and taking it to school to read there! She loved the part where Nikki gets the duck ring stuck round her waste. It was lovely to see her so engrossed in a book and to see her keeping laughing out loud when she got to a funny bit then her eagerness to tell us what just happened to make her laugh.

DD2 (aged 8) read this book in under 24 hours! She loved it. She was given it as a present from her Grandpa. She is going to write her own review. When that's done, I'll come back and post it.

DD has expressed an interest in Dork Diaries books when we've been to the library. However, as we couldn't read them in sequence we decided to hold off.....But the arrival of this thro' the post (thank you!) sent DD into a spin and she insisted on reading this....

She loved it....it's a bit like Diary of a Wimpy Kid for girls...it's very girly indeed - more so than necessary really but DD couldn't put it down....Having just finished reading a Hannah Montana story (believe it or not her school reading practice book???) with her I did think it was not dissimilar....

She read most of it with DW but to show how 'into it' she was, she insisted on giving me the low-down on how the story panned out....

So a thumbs up from DD but less so from the parents...I fear we will now be subjected to the whole series....

I do find all these sets of books very formulaic though.....

we absolutely loved this book, its laugh out loud in places and had us turning the pages to find out what happens next. The characters were easy to relate to and I think my daughters favourite was Nikki. The style of writing is perfect for children making it an easy read and they don't find it boring at all. Definitely recommend this book.
