Hi, I just wondered what your 3 and a half year olds were reading? We've been reading the same books for such a long time and would like to get a few new ones for her. Can anyone recommend any?

All of the julia donaldson books are popular at that age (gruffalo, room on the broom ect)
Lots of picture books about animals too ( i thnk they are called things like one windy day)
Childrens books are amazing there are just so many to chose from

Blue Kangaroo
Winnie The witch
Kipper
Octonauts
a funny book called monkey with the bright blue bottom (i read this so many times i can recite it from beginning to end)

Dd2 is 3 and we're reading whatever takes her fancy from the library each week. Could you visit the library and let her choose some? Then you'll have more of an idea of what she likes.

She got a few books for Christmas though. Any by Julia Donaldson go down well (the gruffalo, gruffalo's child, cave baby, etc), Winnie the Witch is another favourite, she's just got some Hairy McClary books, Animal Pants, any Peppa pig stories, smelly stories (they really stink!! and they were on offer at the Works just before Christmas). Hope that's enough to give you some inspiration.

Emily Brown, Charlie and Lola, anthology of fairy tales, Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs, anything by Oliver Jeffers or Polly Dunbar. There are hundreds!

Topsy and Tim, Don't Panic Annika, Mog stories, Anything by Shirley Hughes. Ladybird classics eg. Gingerbread man, red riding hood etc. So many lovely books out there.

I agree Emily brown with her old grey rabbit Stanley is a great place to start. A great favourite in our house. If it is for a girl with blonde hair that loves a party check out "my party will be brilliant" and they will really associate with it ( www.chubbypineapple.co.uk/my-party-will-be-brilliant.html )
