What do you think are the most classic Fairytales for children?

I want to put together a basket of them as a present for my niece and am a bit stuck on what's a fairy tale, what's a Disney princess story & not getting them muddled, iyswim.

Thanks Grin

I think it depends on which telling you get. Don't forget that early versions of many fairy tales aren't at all child-friendly.

I think the best thing you can do is read the books first.

There are so many versions of the classics and some of them are poorly written and simply unbearable to read. Whereas others are well written and a joy for the reader/parent.

The best one we have is an Usborne collection of children's fairy tales. Others have gone in the recycling Smile
