Hi ds8 and I are reading wind in the willows he loves the language can anyone suggest similar

Sadly nothing is actually like the wind in the willows-one of my favourite books. William Horwood did do a sequel though which was pretty good, if I remember correctly, but I read it as an adult.

But he might want to try Winnie the pooh, Paddington, Five children and it, Charlottes web?

Try taking him to the library and just choosing an armful- he's sure to find something he likes.

The language in Wind in the Willows is so lovely. Bridge to Terrabithia by K Patterson is lovely but it is sad so you may feel its too much for an 8yr old.

if he likes stories about animals as people, he might enjoy the Redwall books, by Brian Jacques,which my sons enjoyed at around eight years old.

The Moomin books by Tove Jansson feature appealing animal like characters, and are charming, quirky stories.

the Narnia books by C.S. lewis have talking animals among the characters, and are delightful stories. the first one, the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is generally the most popular.

stig of the Dump by Clive King is not about animals, but it is a charming story with lovely characters and appeals to most eight year olds.
