What a great title for our May Chapter book of the month: a new adventure from everyone's favourite Y-front clad Superhero Captain Underpants. The ninth book in the series sees the return of Captain Poopypants, now known as Tippy Tinkletrousers who is out for revenge on those who mocked his previous name. It's up to George, Harold and Captain U to stop him...

If your dcs are already Captain Underpants fans, or if you think they would like to meet him then find out more and apply for one of fifty free copies. If you are one of the lucky fifty, we do ask that you join the discussion on this thread and let us know what your dcs think of the book.

My niece thought it was very funny, even though it was more aimed at boys. Loved the parts where the book really came to life and that it is actually smarter than it looks!

DD (8) thought the book was really funny! She has already read it twice, once by herself and second time with her dad as bedtime story. She loves the little comic (the flip-o-rama) that George and Harold make and really laughs out loud when reading. DS (11) already discovered Captain Underpants years ago and still reads the books now and again. DD has now raided his bookcase. The books are very popular in our library so we have a few on reserve.

DD says she really recommends the Captain Underpants books to boys and girls who like funny stories.

Thank you very much for sending us the book!

My son already has quite a few of the Captain Underpants books and was really pleased when this arrived. Good timing - it arrived the day before a hospital appointment, so kept him quiet in the waiting room :-)

His verdict: He really liked the book, especially the over-the-top names. He laughed out loud a few times, so definitely a winner for him !

So far one of my DDs (both 7) has read the book. This is the first Captain Underpants book she has read, and has really enjoyed it. Her favourite character is Harold, and she's also a fan of the Flip-o-rama. I'm hoping my other DD will read it soon and enjoy it as much. We'll definitely hunt down the other books in the series.

Apologies for the lateness of this review - I just forgot. The book was funny, lively and engaging. It's not quite my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal and will be giving it to my godson for Christmas. I do like the use of illustrations in the book and the clever asides, and am sure a wide range of ages, both boys and girls, will love this book.
