MiL has been telling DD about scary dragons. She now wakes regularly at night now saying bad dreams mummy, dragons eat me up.

So can anyone help me find a book, preferably a board book, about nice friendly dragons, suitable for a 2.3 year old.

Zog is a great book by julia donaldson about dragon training etc.

happy2bhomely · 25/03/2013 11:46

My 3 yr old ds really likes Zog, by Julia Donaldson. Not sure if its available as a board book. Its lovely to read aloud though.

Oops, cross post!

Also recommend Zog, really nice story and great illustrations.

The Dragon Who Couldn't Do Dragony Things

And Zog!

Aha, I have that in paper format, she's a little hands on at reading time and regularly rips books, so we've been going down the board book route recently.

Will hook it out for bedtime.

Would appreciate anymore suggestions too.

When The Dragons Came

You'll be able to find it cheaper than on this link I should expect, but basically everyone moves out of town because of the Dragons, but then the Dragons turn out to be really nice and helpful, and were just misunderstood. Smile

Tell Me A Dragon is a beautiful book of pictures of all sorts of dragons and a line about each of them, totally gorgeous, we've been looking at it since DD was that age.

Usbourne Touchy-feely hide and seek dragons by Fiona Watt is a good boardbook. There are brightly coloured pictures and, as the title says, there are flaps and tactile bits to the book.

We have 'When Dragons are Dreaming' by James Mayhew and Lindsey Gardiner out of the library at the moment, it's the last story DD (2.8) has before going to sleep, she loves it. It's got fairies and a baby dragon Smile

BobblesAndClips · 02/04/2013 22:00

Ah, it's not a board book though, sorry

Knight time, lovely book about cute boy who is scared of dragons.

Taffeta · 02/04/2013 22:03

I read Zog, on request, to DD (6) tonight. She's had it for 3? Years now, still loves it.

bulletwithbutterflywings · 02/04/2013 22:06

Zog is lovely. There is a series called Florrie's Dragons on Disney Junior with friendly dragons too - very sweet, my son (3.5) loves it.

HappyDogRedDogToss · 02/04/2013 22:17

Dragon in A Wagon (although that's more about a dog)
Sir Charlie Stinky Socks has a non-scary dragon in it too.
Mike the Knight.

meala · 02/04/2013 22:29

dennis the dragon is nice and it rhymes too so fun to read with wee ones.

MoonlightandRoses · 02/04/2013 23:32

Again by Emily Gravett is a good one - it's about a small dragon being read a bed-time story.

MoonlightandRoses · 02/04/2013 23:37

Sorry, just read the 'boardbook' bit - this isn't one. Although, bit of a faff, but you could contact paper pages to stop her tearing non-board books (this is what my DM did when I was small and had a habit of eating the bottoms of the pages. Blush )

What I Found in Dragon Wood. By Gwen Millward? Can't remember, sorry!

Timothy Knapman and Gwen Millward.

"Three cheers, Charlie Dragon!" is quite popular with my 2 year old. Although she currently has Gruffalo fever. :)
