Good books for 10 yr old girl

Any exciting fiction ideas for a very-soon-to-be 10 year old girl please? Her reading age is probably nearer 12, but she isn't terribly 'worldly wise'.

She's read quite a few Jacqueline Wilson, Michael Morpurgo, been through most of Enid Blyton numerous times.

Just looking for something new. She likes animal stories, real life type stories and also more advanced fairy/fantasy type stories than diasy meadows etc etc

Please share!
TIA

I'm reading the second in the 13 Treasures series at the moment! Wonderful books. But my ten year old bookworm rejected the first one for having "too much description". Sad. She loves the Ingo books, which have a fair bit of description, but are beautifully written by a poet, that's the difference I guess.

Octagon Magic by Andre Norton.
Susan Cooper - not just The Dark is Rising, but her other stuff too.
Willard Price's "Adventure" series are a little dated now, but all the info about wild animals in them is correct, and the stories include the info so it sticks in the reader's head iyswim. I still answer quiz questions using stuff I read in them years ago Grin They do tend to get classed as "boy's books" which pissed me off as a child and still does but there's no reason why a girl can't enjoy them every bit as much. I loved them when I was 10 or so. The first one is Amazon Adventure, then South Sea Adventure, and I think there are 13 in all.
Nancy Farmer's "Sea of Trolls" trilogy is fab too - it's rooted in Norse mythology with all the Gods and giants and things.
Connie Companion quartet is good too, that has lots of mythological creatures in it. It's by Julia Golding who writes "Cat Royal" (also good) and the first one is called "Secret of the Sirens".

My DD, same age loves Malorie Blackman - Operation Gadgetman, Hackers, Cloudbusting, also loved Noel Streatfeild's Ballet Shoes, Party Shoes; any of the David Walliams' books for a quick, fun read; Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce; Eva Ibbotson - Journey to the river sea or one Dog and His Boy.
Oh and Madame Pamplemousse and Her Incredible Edibles as recommended above.

My DD has just moved from reading her way through Michael Morphergo to the Inkheart series, which she is loving. She can't put the books down.

What about books by Karen Mccombie?

Hi, you could try 'The Cat Who Said Dance!', it's on Amazon. It has animals, magic, fantasy and normal, relatable events in it as well. The main character is a 10 year old girl so it could suit your daughter.
