Insect identification/facts book

My DS is 4.5 and really interested in insects/bugs/natural history. I would love to get him a book which classifies/identifies insects along with facts about them - he keeps asking what does it eat, what country does it live in, is it poisonous, so something with those types of 'facts' in would be great. Almost like Top Trumps for insects, I guess?!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Usborne used to make insect cards. I got my DDs set ages ago from the book people. The woodland trust also have a nature detective site which is a great resource for printing from yourself.

I would go to the horses mouth www.nhmshop.co.uk/childrens-books/category.html?pageNo=2

Thanks both!

The Natural History Museum shop was a great idea - have just ordered 'Big Bugs life size' which is perfect - "From the heaviest cockroach to the spider with the longest legs, Museum insect expert George Beccaloni describes all the essential facts about 35 mega minibeasts, including where they live and what they eat."

DS is gonna love it!

Happy to help ! When he's a bit older you can progress to the Deadly 60 book and if you haven't found the programme yet it's currently on CBBC at 8am weekdays I think.

I think Eye Spy books are still available (at least my mum found them from somewhere for my nephews) - good for kids interested in wildlife as they can tick off things they've seen.
