I want to get my DS some Dr Seuss books. Looking on amazon I can afford to get 3 books at the moment. So which ones would you recommend to get us started?
Thanks

Actually I did read some of them when I was about 9 or 10 I think. I didn't love or hate them, i just thought they were just slightly odd.
As a parent though I look at them with slightly different eyes, they are unbelievably annoying to read out loud and I find them quite creepy to be honest.

I'd get:

One Fish, Two Fish
The Cat in the Hat
Green Eggs and Ham

and then later Fox in Socks (or if he's 5, I'd get it now instead of Green Eggs and Ham).

(Fox in Socks is good for when they're learning to read/spell - I've just been explaining -le endings to DD with the aid of the Tweetle Beetles).

I had one fish two fish as a child and my parents have kept it so our children have had it too - the pictures fascinated me when I was little and it is a really good one.

DD1 is 5 and starting to read by herself - the cat in the hat is enjoyable to read to them (I have a younger one too) - and DD can have a crack at reading herself!

You know they are colour coded for reading to little ones - first readers - and more advanced readers?

Anyway for DDs birthday we got yurtle the turtle (surprising in that it is so moralistic!) and green eggs and ham which DD can read on her own - good - but I just read it to them for the first time this evening and man it was dull!

ALSO - our library has a full range of dr seuss books so if you are strapped that might be the place to go Smile

We love Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks. Also loving The Lorax. Just seen the film too.

DS loves them and the simpler ones, like Hop on Pop have been good for helping him to read.

For the stories I like

Did I ever tell you how lucky you are?
The Grinch
The Lorax

DS favourite is probably Mr Brown Can Moo.
