Heidi - both she and I loved it

I think DS had the BFG (Roald Dahl), and DD had either My Naughty Little Sister, or Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf. Also aged around 4 for both of them.

I remember so many of these!!

Charlie and the chocolate factory. dd loved the milly molly mandy books, not really chapter books though.

Colyngbourne · 15/11/2011 16:44

Milly-Molly-Mandy, My Naughty Little Sister, Teddy Robinson stories, The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, Gobbolino the Witch's Cat.

snowflake99 · 16/11/2011 10:46

The Twits!

CDMforever · 16/11/2011 19:58

My 4yo DS Loved The Enchanted Wood, we are now reading THe Magic Faraway Tree - have to admit we might be getting a little bit bored.

Would love to read him a Roald Dahl book tho I know they do them to death at school.

Beamur · 16/11/2011 20:00

The Twits here too - DD aged 4 and she LOVED it. Roald Dalh books have that edge of danger and disgustingness that many small children enjoy.

Cartoonjane · 16/11/2011 20:00

Mrs Pepperpot, My Naughty Little Sister, Milly Molly Mandy.

dinkystinky · 16/11/2011 20:03

The twits then fantastic mr fox

iklboo · 16/11/2011 20:04

George's Marvellous Medicine.

SecretSpi · 16/11/2011 20:07

A lot of those mentioned plus Paddington Bear, Winnie the Pooh and Mary Plain.

MayDayChild · 16/11/2011 20:13

Fantastic mr fox which she loved! Ironic as I read it to DH aged about 24 because he'd never read it!
But she wouldn't settle with Charlie choc factory.
She loves Amelia Jane Enid blyton.
Doing a huge Disney compendium at mo, interspersed with fave's gruffalo etc

Catsycat · 16/11/2011 21:59

The Owl Who Was Afraid of The Dark, read it recently to DD just before she turned 4, and she loved it.

ScabbyHorse · 16/11/2011 22:03

The Twits....appealed to my DS both pictures and text...hilarious

crispface · 16/11/2011 22:04

dd (just turned 4) is LOVING the enchanted wood. Took her a couple of chapters to get int, but she is in love with silky and laughs hysterically at saucepan man. I can remember those feelings so well from when I was a child. Such a well written book!

MollyintheMoon · 16/11/2011 22:04

My 4yr old loved The Twits too. We've just embarked on The Magic Faraway Tree which she's enjoying but not holding her attention as well as The Twits.

fivegomadindorset · 16/11/2011 22:10

Olga Da Polga - Michael Bond

singarainbow · 16/11/2011 22:11

The first one for our kids so far was The Faraway Tree (or whichever one came first it might be the enchanted wood), completed that series then moved onto Roald Dahl.

rushofbloodtothefeet · 16/11/2011 22:14

The BFG and now we're on to Fantastic Mr Fox. I'll be looking some of these others up though. I have such fond memories of being read to by my Mother all huddled together on the bottom bunk, and that anticipation of the next chapter Smile

gaelicsheep · 16/11/2011 22:18

The Children of Cherry Tree Farm by Enid Blyton. We're currently onto the Famous Five, as a break between Beast Quests.

supermama212 · 20/11/2011 07:38

DD had my naughty little sister. Then all Milly-Molly-Mandy

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/11/2011 20:24

The Twits for DS and Rainbow Bloody Fairies for DD who was 3 but really wanted me to read them to her.
