recommendations for girl 2.7 who asked for a "funny book"

My dd 2.7 loves books and yesterday asked me to read her a "funny" book. I had a look through our fairly vast selection and to my suprise I couldn't see anything that I would class as "funny", except one about Percy the fish's botty bubbles.

She's talking really well and makes little jokes. She loves wordy books like Gruffalo, Paddington and the Beatrix Potter books.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

No, there are two books about pants.

One is just called "Pants!" and has a one line rhyme about pants (Fairy pants, hary pants, run away from scary pants..." is on one page with appropriate illustrations) and DS absolutely adored it, and Hairy Maclary, but now he's 2 and a half we've moved on to Aliens Wear Underpants, and Dinosaurs Wear Underpants. The theme has developed!

Nobody is saying Aliens Love Underpants (or Dinosaurs, either) is too young at all, just that plain old "Pants!" might be. I mean I doubt your 6 year old is keen on Hairy Maclairy any more, either.

The Emily Brown books! I love Emily Brown - Emily Brown and The Thing and That Bear Belongs to Emily Brown are the best.

The Doctor Xargle books (I think newly back in print - available discounted from The Book People).

perfectstorm · 27/05/2011 23:31

Doctor Xargle is ace.

Penguin by Polly Dunbar is utterly hilarious - the illustrations set against the deadpan wit crack me up.

Second Giraffes Can't Dance = DS adores it.

The Mole Who Knew it was None of His Business is the poo one mentioned at the start of the thread.
It's about a mole who gets a poo on his head and he sets off to find out who did it. We have the noisy version Grin

DD (3) has laughed out loud to Dr Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" and "One Fish Two Fish" since she was 2.5.

There's a Funny Bones books called The Pet Shop with a rude parrot that really makes my 3yr old laugh. Emily Gravett books are also very funny. It's too young for her now but Orange, Pear, Apple, Bear was the first book that made my DS really laugh as a baby.

Richard Scarry is also good for manic fun.
