Dr Seuss for 2 yr old

My 2 yr old ds loves Great Day for Up, Hop on Pop (short board book version) and to a lesser extent The Foot Book. Others I have looked at seem far too long and wordy for him. Does anyone know of any other Dr Seuss books that would be suitable? There are so many on Amazon and different versions of them ? it?s hard work trying to figure out from the descriptions whether they would interest a 2 yr old. They are such fun to read with him. Thanks

have a look at the colour on the spine. the books are the same colour for the same level. cant remember which one it is for the easier books though. hth

My 2yo ds loves all of the Dr Seuss books. If they are long we just skip some pages and he doesn't seem to care.

Red Fish, Blue Fish is quite a short one.

The Sleep Book is a real favourite, but it is long (hence the flicking past pages)

also inside the back cover they will have other titles in the same colour band.

My (almost) 2yo loves Green Eggs and Ham and Fox in Socks... he just loves the rhythms and the pictures. Sometimes I start half way through, he doesn't mind!

You'll have to practice Fox in Socks though!

Mr Brown can moo.

I still have my old battered copy from my childhood and I love reading it to the DC's.

Green Eggs and Ham is a great favourite in this house.

Another vote for 'Red Fish, Blue Fish' - because it's a load of old nonsense and not really a coherent story, you can skip bits and it doesn't matter. And it ends with this, which is great for bedtime:

"And now, Good night.
It is time to sleep
So we will sleep with our pet Zeep.
Today is gone. Today was fun.
Tomorrow is another one.
Every day, from here to there.
funny things are everywhere."

DD also loves 'The Cat in the Hat'.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions everyone. I'll be making an Amazon order soon, and will start by looking at your recommendations. Great tip about the colour coding ihatethecold, thanks (I should have noticed). mum295 - read 'Red Fish, Blue Fish' on the blog - I love it and will have to buy it now!

"THe Cat in the Hat" is quite a long book, but it's easy to "abridge" it as you're reading it. I did this when I first shared it with my DD - now 4 - until she could concentrate on the whole book. ALso, get hold of the Adrian Edmondson reading - brilliant for pre-schoolers and a good way into the books.

Have a look at, "There's a wocket in my pocket." It's one of the best IMHO.

mustdash · 29/01/2011 19:34

There's a Wocket In My Pocket is our favourite! There is also a really good lift the flap book, which all our DCs loved. Sorry I don't remember the title, but it was large, squarish, and had a blue cover.

I vote for Mr Brown can Moo!

Thanks again for the suggestions. Audio version is a good idea.
