Hi, my 11 year old has been experiencing pain just under her knee for about 10 days and silly me googled it and now I'm convinced she has osteosarcoma. She is very active dancing 3.5 a week at least and plays football. Just wondered if anyone knew what other symptoms there could be.TIA

Is it at the front of her knee? Osgood schlatters much more likely and is nothing to be too concerned about.

Yes it'll be Osgood Schlatter's I reckon too. If there's a tender bump around an inch or two below her kneecap that's a key sign.

If it's that it's common and totally benign. Can hurt. Physio helps and they grow out of it. Most common in kids who do impact sports.

And at around your dd's age

My dd had Osgood Schlatters too - quite common I believe. She's outgrown it now. She had mild exercises to do that helped. Just see GP and get info leaflet. Best wishes

I have just googled it and sounds like that. I can't feel any lumps but it is definitely painful more after dancing and she does street dance so a lot of using knees. Maybe I'll just keep a eye on her

Thank you so much. You have helped me look at this in a different way

Ah so pleased we've helped. Of course get her checked if you're worried but it really does sound like this.
