Update from MNHQ - board name change

Hi, everyone. Following your feedback, we've changed the name of Childfree Mumsnetters to MNers without children, to be inclusive of all.

We've not removed the board from Active. If we did this, it would be harder for those who could use a space like this to find it. We are mindful of the reasons why you asked for this in the first place and would ask that you continue to report posts you think break our guidelines. We've also added a disclaimer to the top of the board.

Are they incapable of scrolling, seeing the board name and thinking nope, that's not relevant to me, I won't bother?

Sadly a lot of people seem to be, or else they’re aggrieved that a board isn’t for them. I’m never sure which it is. Black Mumsnetters seems to have a similar issue with white people posting there and disrupting.

And frankly, I am getting a bit tired of parents coming up with reasons why the board name is wrong and that’s why we’re getting endless goady posters. It isn’t difficult to not post on something that has nowt to do with you. Those who are incapable of doing so have only themselves to look at - they weren’t lured here by our boastful former board name

Yes. Thank you. This. Parents are respinsible for what they click on in the same way everyone else is - it's not as if the board title doesn't make it clear.

Obviously the goady posters are all our fault because we made them do it.

Gotta admit, my jaw dropped a little at the poster calling it 'provocative' to have it flashing up in active. Only if someone's set on being provoked, and they might want to examine why that's the case.

I am so riled up that I will happily risk it. I mean like it cannot be any different to what's happening on this board already😂

I've got to the stage where I see a new thread and think 'I give that until page 2 before the parents pile in with whatever corrections they have to our clearly uninformed thinking and to tell us they know best.'

Tbh I am in a mood because I injured my foot today and I have low pain and annoyance threshold and it puts me into "I will fight all and any enemies and annoyances with my bear hands" mood.

Yesterday I was in 'bloody hell I need to get the plumber in again and it's going to cost a bomb, I KNOW IT IS' mood. (That's after the plumber costing a bomb last week, the place is falling apart). That might have added an extra layer of testiness to posts.

I aid last few years that if I had my time again I would train as a plumber or electrician. Each costed me over few years more than immigration lawyer😂

DB wanted to learn a trade. DM wanted him to stay at school and take A levels (which he flunked, I swear out of sheer spite). Now he's a civil servant and looking forward to retirement because he's so meh about it. Add that to the grudges he has about DM (which are numerous).😀
