how much for a 2 week nanny?

I am planning a trip to australia to visit my brother next spring and I think it is too much for my 2 DD to cope with the flight. Our plan at the moment is that we'd get a nanny in our house for a week to work along side my parents (who the girls adore), then the nanny would take the girls to my MIL house for the second week once she'd go to know them etc.
But I have no idea how much that might cost or where I'd find someone- any ideas??

If you want the nanny to live in and its only for 2weeks makes sure you have an idea of hours is it 24/7 or will it be mon-fri 8-6 or what will it be?

For an experienced and qualified temp nanny you would be looking at £12-£15 an hr gross.

or if you want more of a mothers help type person so just to help out your parents then about £6-£7 an hr gross

You may find someone on here or try gumtree and netmums. good luck.

would you think that private advertising is reliable enough? I'd hate it all to fall through at the last minute or something- at least with an agency if it all goes tits up and we're on the other side of the world it is up to the agency (and not the grandparents) to sort it out...

The agency I work for sometimes just paid a friend of mine £600 to work for a week living in with grandma who had the grandchildren for a week, she said she should have got double and was shattered!!!

Beware Negligentmummy, using an agency doesn't 100% guarantee that if the booked nanny went AWOL or got ill that they would have a replacement available.

Yikes Danthe4th- that was a bit more than i expected to be paying to be honest- if she got that for a week after agency fees etc...
my mum is very hands on and with nursery/ pre school etc the first week would be pretty easy- MIL not so much!!
I wouldn't mind £600 a week to look after them the rest of the time!
