Going rate for a Babysitter in France ?

We are holidaying in France in July with our 2.5 toddler and 10 month old baby in a rental property. Whilst there we are attending a party nearby.
I have finally managed to find a babysitter from this end - a 25 year old lady who works in the tourist office I contacted who has just got in touch. Neither of us have mentioned money. Does anyone know what the going rate is in France ?

I am used to paying Sitters.co.uk fees for London which is approx £6 an hour for a min of four hours. We would be out from 7pm until pretty late, possible 2am. I have no idea how much to suggest.
Any advice very welcome

Depends where you are and on the qualifcations of said person.

I think anywhere from 6-15 EUR. I was apparently a bargain at 10 EUR/hour in Paris given my experience and qualifications but I suspect I'd struggle to get that where DH's family live.

thanks - thats a good ball park start
This lady has no particular childcare qualifications and we will be staying near Cahors in the Lot. My two are good sleepers and to be honest I would hope not to ask any more of her than to sit and listen to two baby monitors for the evening. If they woke and could not be resettled we would pop back - we'll be ten minutes drive away.

TBH you can probably negotiate a flat fee for the night - say 50 EUR - which evens out to around 7 EUR an hour.

Say that in London you'd expect to pay the equivalent of 50 EUR and ask her whether she'd be okay with that.

If you come back and they've been horrendous you can bump it up a bit.

Great advice Frakkit and roughly in line with what I was thinking so lovely to have it sense checked by someone else - many thanks

Do double check before you go, we had a babysitter in the South of France 4 years ago and she was 15 Euros per hour.

I would ask her what she expects and then negotiate from there. She may ask for less than you have offered. If she asks for more then you can negotiate.

We have a house in Correze (central france) and for a babysitter you are looking at about 10-15 EUR ph

Thank you so much for the extra replies - we had agreed 7 euros an hour for 7 hours rounded to 50 and she then came back to me and said friends got paid 10 an hour and could we pay her 9. I was a little bit annoyed as felt we were being held over a barrel (we have had no luck finding anyone else) so now I feel much much better having read rookiemater and jendot's replies.
thanks again
