Would this qualify as 'making a nanny redundant'?

Friend (Nanny) has a boss (MB) who has 2 children. Nanny has worked for them for 2 years sole charge, MB works full time.

MB wants a 3rd child and is taking measures to get pregnant asap. However, MB is not going back to work after 3rd child. She will want a full-time 'mother's help/nanny' though, and wants to keep Nanny on in this role, but for less pay. Nanny will not agree to less pay and does not want to work shared charge.

Is this in effect making Nanny redundant as the job spec is changing considerably? All thoughts/legal eagles appreciated!

I think as the role is fundamentally changing, from sole charge to shared charge, and the pay is being adjusted accordingly, I would say yes, the Nanny is being made redundant as her current role as it stands will not be the same. I could be wrong though?

I would say that your friend is being made redundant as the job offer isn't The same as original job and neither is the salary so she is legally entitled to turn down the job

I'm assuming MB isn't pregnant yet so your friend may be in her job for another 6+mths
