childminder pros:

  • home atmosphere
  • exclusivity of care ... all activities will be prepared specifically with you child in mind
  • small group of children
  • usually quite flexible
  • continuity of care - can pick up from school when children get older
  • a deeper relationship is formed with the child and it does help become child's second 'home'
  • can adjust the planned day to suit the child e.g. if they suddenly get poorly

cons:
-might be a problem if she's ill/on holiday but many childminders do have a back up childminder

Biased answer - I'm a childminder

Me too! I'd add being raised with children of different ages to the CM pros - especially important for first or only children to learn what it's like to get along with older and younger ones and have in effect part-time siblings.

I wouldn't personally include your last pro though - if a child is poorly they should really be at home.

I wouldn't put any cons at all if it's a brochure for prospective parents. It's a marketing tool and I can't think of any company that would produce advertising materials giving reasons why you shouldn't use their company!

I bet you won't get the nurseries telling prospective parents the negatives of nursery care.

Agree, calls it benefits/positives of using a childminder instead

What about putting why they are not cons.

So if you have someone who can cover you when your are ill put that.

I hope that makes sense.
