hi, sorry i'm not actually a cm any more, but i am self employed and thought you may be able to help with this question.

as a self employed person how much maternity allowance do you get paid? is it the 90% of the 13 weeks test period (or £124.88, which ever is less) or is the full £124.88 because i'm self employed?

I believe its 90% or £124, whichever is less - but, you can choose any 13 weeks during the test period (66 weeks before due date iirc) and they don't have to be consecutive weeks. You can choose your 13 highest earning weeks and they average them.

i'm just confused by the forms because it says it says that if your employed to send off 13 weeks worth of pay slips but if your self employed they work it out.

so does that mean i automaticly get the £124?

the form tells you if your self employed ot skip the bit where you tell them how much you earn. there is no where else to put how much you want to claim

they work it out by basically checking your national insurance contributions are up to date.
You don't need to send in any proof of earnings.
If you've not been paying the NI though, you don't get it!

right so it is £124 then. my ni contributions are all up to date!

self employed people just get the smp from the beginning no 90% unless you're employed
