Do you charge anything in the holidays? If so, full fee, 50%?

I have a 2 y/o starting in Sept and at the moment its due to be a full time contract, but it may change later on.

Have been asked if it does change, would they have to pay in the holidays. In the past I have always charged nothing.

What do other CM's do?

I look after a teachers child and dont charge a retainer, because if I do I have to keep the place open during the holidays, therefore can't take on any children for holiday only cover. I've in the past provided quite a few short term contracts during school holidays. Others I know charge 50% of normal fee.

I charge full-fee

I am a teacher and so only use CM term time. In the past I have not paid for holidays as the CM had older children to mind during the holidays.

At the moment I pay 50% to my CM for school holidays. But this is the first CM to ask for that.

I have a teacher's child and don't charge anything in the school holidays.

I've had two childminders and neither have charged anything forthe holidays.

I charge 50% for under 5s as I only have 3 under 5 spaces I can't afford to only get paid for part of the year. Even if they say they don't want care in the holidays, most do book a week in the summer or a day or two each week (paying full fees for time booked and half fees for remainder).

For over 5s, I don't currently charge in the holidays. I've got lots of school children and not enough places for all of them to come in the holidays. So its first come first served for any addtional hours booked, no space is reserved in the holidays. Some don't come at all. Those that do want to come all want the same days so I can't supply places for everybody and lose out financially in the end cos I'm not full in the holidays any more. So thinking about charging for 5-8s as well. Cos I'm struggling to make ends meet in the holidays.

Thanks all, think I will go with 50%.

In the past I have been a bit of a mug moneywise, so want to start this contract with no later regrets.
