Hiya, I'm considering training as a cm a few years down the line, would it even be possible in a privately rented house? How about if I (ever) get a housing association place?

Yes, subject to landlords approval - so will depend on individual landlords. The regulator does not have any issues with it, landlords may or may not permit it.

I am in rented accommodation and have been for year! I asked my landlord for written permission to childmind in my home and he agreed - but then he is a great landlord, lucky us.

I have no idea about a housing association house, though.

Also, you may find that your rental agreement does not permit you to run a business from the house so that is why you would need specific permission.

I would have been in deep poop had the landlord said no!

Before I found my fab cm, I interviewed a cm who lived on a really tatty looking council estate. She was fully registered. I don't know if she has any mindees yet. But I know it's possible to get registered.
