CMs - do you use wristbands on outings?

I am trying to tackle the dreaded risk assessments that I've been ignoring for the last 3 months a while and I'm wondering whether anyone uses wristbands for each mindee with CMs contact details? I'm not sure whether this could work with 18m/o's but it could with older children and I've written my details in pen on their hands before .

What do you think - especially for the toddlers, unnecessary?

And the safety aspect is why I'm a big fan of write on wristbands and plain hi-vis wear, I just don't like the advertising. Sorry. It's not just cminders though honest - I don't discriminate in my dislike I don't particularly like any big logo/branded clothes on children. Which makes shopping for two young boys very challenging!

I thought that too sparkle....I dont really like the idea of advertising, with all the logoed stuff. But then nurseries/schools/brownies put kids in uniforms on trips out so I think it is prob just something that I would get used to overttime as it appears to becoming more common place.

I was outside lidl yesterday when a boy ran out and along a busy road, and both sil and i hesitated as we werent sure whether to stop him or not (he wasnt tiny). It took about 3 min for us to work out if he was with someone or not which was too long a delay ideally, (i did then call out after him/point way to mum and he was fine). If he had been wearing a uniform a uniform/hi vis vest whatever, i think we both would have immediately stopped him, its somehow a different mindset, hard to explain exactly why, but almost though they have been dressed like that to attract attention/help from passerbys if required and so you wouldnt worry so much about about an irate parent being furious you stopped their child from doing something they were fine with. All this at a subconcious level though.

NOt sure if the above makes any sense now reading it back tbh

sparkle, I understand where you are coming from on logo adorned clothes. When my DCs were little they never had any cartoon decorated, pictures, Thomas, Little Pony stuff on t shirts, fleeces etc. I hated it all and especially football shirts and made my son feel out of it by not allowing him to ever have one, which I now regret.

Without sounding as though I let them run off and play without supervision, if they are in ordinary coats, it is hard to keep an eye on them, spotting them is a mission!

You would hardly notice, the details on mine, it is discreet navy small embroidery. You wouldn't see it across a playground, but you might realise they are all in the same colour, which helps me keep track of them, allowing them freedom and to manage their own play without being cosseted and not allowed to take risks.

I certainly do not seem them as an advertising tool, I have far more business than I can ever possibly think about. At least 5/6 enquiries a week. Last week 12 alone, and 5 of those were people wanting to move children out of day nurseries.
