I'm getting registered again. however, have been offered a chance to start looking after 2 under 5's with a start int eh enxt couple of weeks. Now obviously I can't have them in my home - so can I look after them in their own home? And if yes, can thier parents claim the tax credits for childcare!?

thanks

Yes nanny's can be registered so that they can claim tax credits. Can't remember who they have to register with though.

OFTSED registered nannies can claim tax credits but it can take up to 3 months to get registered...

That said the biggest delays are usually with the CRB and as you were a CM your CRB might have been renewed within the last 3 years so OFSTED wouldn't need to do a new one.

You need your ICP or other common core (which presumably you had as a CM), your paeds 1sts aid and nanny insurance.

You can look after them in their home without being registered.

Good luck!!!

Does a nanny have to be registered though to be able to claim tax credits? Can they claim them just by saying "saltires our nanny"

You would need to register with ofsted as a nanny if they want to claim.

In the meantime they could claim and hopefully by the end of the year, you will be registered as a nanny and they will have claimed okay.

I don't want to be registed full time as a nanny though, am going back to being a CM, this is a short term meausre so they can go to work and get tax credits while I have the children

Well in the short term they can't claim then until you set up a childminder. Although potential perhaps you could work unpaid until you are childminder?

You can't accept tax credits or vouchers if you're not registered. Thems the rules.

You can be an unregistered nanny where they pay you directly.

How long will the relative parts if the process take? And would one speed up the other?
