I am currently trying to work out my expenses for my first year of childminding.

What percentage of my household bills etc do I claim back as expenses, or how do I find out?

Any advice greatly apprieciated.

The percentage you claim is a maximum of 30% for gas & electric if you work 40 or more hours per week which is then pro-rartared down according to the hours you work weekly. You can claim up to 10% of council tax & water rates plus your rent (if you rent) again reduced pro-rarta(sp) I am pretty sure there is information on the NCMA website about it, if not talk to HMRC they will help you free of charge! Also remember you automatically get an allowance of 10% of your annual income taken of your expenses as well to allow for general wear & tear.

Thankyou. I have been on the HMRC website and found the list of what I can claim but it says "% for water rates and council tax rent". Does this mean I claim back the % of my water rates, my council tax and my rent?

Yep if you rent you can claim a %.

Mortgage you can't.

Thankyou for your help. I got my Tax return finished today, and my Tax credit renewal! Not to bad but I think I owe Tax credits a BIG back payment. [terrified emoticon].

Thanks again. X
