How easy is it to register for 4 under 5's?

I have a dilema in September, as I have 2 children starting school and a new mindee starting.

However new one starts on 1/9 and schoolies wont start till 2nd week of Sept.

Do you think Ofsted will give me permission to have 4 under 5's for a couple of weeks.

(Also have one other child now thats 3, so not going anywhere in Sept, which brings my total to 4)

Just apply for a varation now and see what they say, you probably will be fine as the schoolies will be full time within 4/6 weeks depending on how the school does the new intake. Get the correct details from the school, remember to download the correct variation form or you may get it sent back.
You will need to show how you will cope, ie car seats, sleeping arrangements, how you will keep the children safe on an outing etc.

I'd imagine in your situation they'd say yes but best thing to do is just write to them now and see what they say.

I've had 4 under 5's granted LOADS of times now, but only for continuity of care reasons. I got so fed up with things constantly changing, my last request was for any of the children on my books to be allowed whenever they wanted as long as I was with 4 under 5's at any time. Thank god they granted it, saves me writing in all the time now

I'd be surprised if they said no to you as it's only for a couple of weeks and then they'd be classed as over 5's then. Not like they'll SUDDENLY behave differently 2 weeks later! But you never know with Ofsted so just give as much detail as you can and see what they say.

If it helps, they now have a form with boxes to fill in. I can email you a copy if you want then you can email them over the weekend and leave it with them?

Good luck

I know my CM got permission pretty easily when my DS2 started with her. I went back to work mid August and her daughter started school in September. DS1 was with her already and it was no problem.

Have just emailed it so let me know if you don't get it

I just explained that I had set contracts but that several of my new ones (I took on when dh was my assistant) had various reasons for using me i.e. not because they had to work and therefore were much more flexible and would want extra hours if someone else didn't come, swap days etc. I said that it would save THEM time and costs of printing if they just agreed to me having any of the children listed as long as I wasn't over my overall 4 under 5's. I did give reasons why the children of the non working mums were coming to me (respite as they have medical condition, complications with new baby, time alone due to PND etc). This way they could sympathise with the parents and understand why it was important for me to still be able to offer my service (as dh is no longer working with me).
