Hi

I have a parent coming round on Friday, she needs childcare for 3 mornings a week (8am-1.30).
But she doesnt want to start til September (4 months away).

So.....

Do I take a deposit?
Do I take a retainer?
Do I take both?
How much should I charge for the deposit/retainer? (considering 4 months is quite a long time to keep a space open/available).

All advice greatly recieved.
Many thanks

I've just given a CM £100 to keep a space for me till Sept, in case that helps. Not sure whether it's a deposit or a retainer. It is non-refundable if I don't take up the place though. HTH.

Mind you, she doesn't actually HAVE a space till Sept, which maybe makes a difference?

Well;

I take a months money in advance as a deposit, then nothing until another parent wants that space. When that happens I offer the space to the first parent on a full pay basis & if they don't want it I return the deposit & take on the second parent.

I do same as KatyMac except my deposit is £50

I would take a £50 refundable deposit and charge the retainer at half the fee she will be paying (non-refundable).
