I have quite a lot but still not enough - I need more things for outside and also for 2.5+ years.

Luckily we have loads of storage, we made some floor to ceiling shelving and also on the floor we have 4 little ikea boxes that we rotate the toys on the shelves into ;the shelving also incorporates 2 tables to make a craft zone.

Then we have 2 separate shelves one that stores hats/suncream/spare clothes etc inside boxes and another that stores nappies inside colourful bags.

I will see if I can do a picture for you. I think we're quite lucky as we have a separate playroom and we bought the house with CMing in mind so could plan the space properly without having to find room for it IYSWIM?

I have two Ikea units full of boxes so that I have free floor space and everything looks really smart, I love it.

I bought a shed, i've got 4 children of my own and no playroom so keeping everything was taking over. This way I have everything in crates and bring in whatever is age appropriate and it works well.

I also have a shed full of plastic storage boxes, (put up by my despairing husband last year) I have a very large wardrobe at the top of the stairs for puzzles, games and things that can't be kept in the shed. I have 2 stacking wooden boxes full of craft stuff - paints, aprons, treasure basket, seasonal activities box on a shelf above the stairs (a definate health and safety issue to me regularly pull something out when trying to get them down). As well as all the stuff in my playroom which I class as "baby friendly bits" so equipment which won't cause damage to any age. Equipment stuffed behind sofa's ect... Outdoor equipment stored in plastic stacking boxes, in garden. A bureau full of paperwork. Desk for computer stuff - under desk - stacks of paper for craft, 2 travel cots hidden in different bedrooms, DD's have to put up with dolls, barbies, magnetix, lego - things they grew out of long ago still stored in their bedrooms............

Oh and baby bits in the loft, for the period 5months - approx 1 year....

I think that's it , can't wait for the car boot when I finally give it all up, although by then I'll need a lorry. But just think of all the extra space I will have, a girl can dream.....

I built a conservatory a few years ago and it meant that I could fill the existing play room with shelving, to stack everything on. Boxes of old paperwork stashed in corners of the loft. I can't believe I used to be able to manage without the conservatory. I didn't even have a back door which faced the garden before! Having said that ... I did manage and the children seemed just as happy.

navyeyelasH · 23/03/2010 19:58

I'm scared now sillymillysmummy, I think there are pictures somewhere already on here, maybe in the DIY section. I will go find them!

navyeyelasH · 23/03/2010 20:14

Here we go the pictures are a bit old now and the playroom looks a bit different the TV is mounted, there are pictures on the walls, and the shelves have loads of really useful boxes on them with labels.

playroom pic

picture 2 this one shows where we keep nappies and spare clothes etc.

So glad we went to the effort to do it, it was more hassle in the short term but much better in the long term!

SillyMillysMummy · 23/03/2010 22:29

er wow Navy, thats fab, I would LOVE that kind of set up and to be honest probably have the room, I have a play room already...but.... yours looks very 'nursery' which is great for the mindees imo, but i think maybe a little too far for my dh lol

well done you

navyeyelasH · 24/03/2010 17:15
