How easy/hard is it to register for overnight care? Have been approached by a family who need 2 nights care a month plus other hours. I'm going to speak to my developement(sp)officer later but thought I would try here as well.

My house isn't big enough so for a family that come to me I go to their house and nanny at night and childmind at mine during the day.
I paid for extra nanny insurance and thats all ofsted required. Just another option for you if its any help.

i just requested it from the start and during my inspection yesterday she asked me if i was happy keeping everything the same..am assuming youd just have to contact them like you would for a variation?

Shelmic · 12/03/2010 10:22

It's easy. When I did it about 2 years ago all I just notified them in writing. I was sent an amended registartion cert. My next inspection is due soon and at that stage they'll check my facilities for overnight care.

Thank you. I've just spoken to Ofsted and it seems feasible to do as they said that baby can sleep in my room. Just waiting for parents to decide that they want me to go ahead as I don't fancy going through all that stress with the variation request unless they definatly would like me to do over night care.

Can't imagine it'd be any stress to get registered for overnight care, when I had my very initial inspection for Ofsted she asked if I wanted to do nights I said yes and she took a quick squint at my bedrooms and said fine, there was nothing more to it at all.

thing is....Ofsted arent renowned for they speed in authorising variations (i applied for one for 1 hour once a week...3 weeks ago and have still not heard back!..dont need it now ..but just shows!...i put mine through over phone and he emailed me a form to fill in, i emailed back and was v.easy...might be worth it so you dont miss out waiting for new cert etc?

hennipenni · 15/03/2010 13:45

Thanks Pinkchick, I put in for another variation last Sept which took them 6 weeks to process (don't need it now as child left)so I know how long they can take. I've got the first meeting with the parents tomorrow so will take it from there. (Parents have other modes of care in place whilst we wait for the variation to be approved).

ah thats ok then, wouldnt want you to have to refuse and lose business whilst waiting for ofsted..fingers crossed

hennipenni · 15/03/2010 14:36

Hope I don't lose it, down to one child two days a week at the moment
