It's simple stuff - mostly common sense - so don't be nervous!

Each trainer covers things in a different order but you can expect a bit on child protection, routines, behaviour management, running a childcare business, safety around the home, play, anti-discrimination/anti-bias and inclusion practices and working in partnership with parents.

You'll probably be given handouts to help you revise for the test.

As an ice-breaker my trainer went round and asked why we were all there - childminder, nanny etc - and what we expected from the course.

Just as frakkinaround says, it's very basic and a bit boring. If you have children of your own or worked with children before it shouldn't be too tiresome. They cover basic stuff in not a lot of detail such as.

Safeguarding, Health n Safety, How to run a business, routines, partnership with parents, basic rules of registration, bit about policys / proceedures etc.

Have fun.

Definitely a rather boring course, it takes up two days on things that quite frankly could be covered in about 3 hours, but then that always seems to be the case on courses doesn't it. There's nothing difficult in the course, all very common-sense, the only bit you might not find very pleasant is the 'safeguarding children' bit which goes over the different kinds of abuse.
