just want to check before i tell my friend anything.

she has asked for my CM's phone number but if CM took her dd it would mean she had two under 1. is this allowed or not? i dont want to put CM or friend in awkward position.

not normally allowed unless twins

how near is your dd to her birthday? Cm may apply to ofsted for a variation of her numbers if she can show how she would accomodate the needs of both infants, not sure how common a yes is these days in under-1s

my ds is 9 months. my friends DD is 10 months so would only be under 1 for another 2 months.

I have a variation for 2 under 1, but it's only usually issued for continuity of care.

I have permission for two under one and have had for several years, I have rarely used it but if your childminder is experienced & can prove to Ofsted that she is capable of looking after two young children & has the right equipment & procedures in place there is no reason for her to not be granted permission.

I can also take 2 under 1, I don't think it's that uncommon now. Have a look at your CM's cert it will be on their.

I also have a variation for 2 under one it also goes on you experience I was a deputy manager at a centre for 14 children under 2 and your space in the home I have two childminding rooms and a lot of double equipment. If your childminder gets the variation first she should be fine. Hope this helps

thanks, from what you have all said it sounds like experience was a very important factor in allowing you to have two under 1. my CM is newly registered and my two ds' are her 1st and only mindees at the minute so i doubt she would be able to but i will leave it up to her. i will let her know that friend is interested and she can apply to have two under 1 if she wants to take friend's DD.

thanks to all of you.

I have a variation for 2 under 1 and now both children are older I have been told by ofsted that the variation can stay in place for the future if needed as I could prove I could care for 2 under 1. I was asked if I had 2 highchairs, car seats, double buggy etc and the sleeping arrangements for 2.
These children were both new starters and from different families.
Ofsted take each case on its own merit so always worth asking.
Oh and I had only been registered for 4 months when I was granted the variation.
