I am a childminder moving from London to West Sussex. We are renting and will hopefully be moving next month.

Trouble is, we NEED to make sure we move to an area with a demand for childminders, which I am finding hard when I don't know the area.

Horsham is the area we really want to move to, but have noticed that some villages (Pulborough being one we are looking at) are cheaper than Horsham for rent, but we want the work as me and hubby are hoping to CM together.

ANybody willing to help me?

I live in Burgess Hill and we are all very busy in this area (all charging between £4-5 and hour)

I know about 15 other CM's and we are all full.

I am in East Grinstead and there are LOADS of childminders and never enough work to go round!!

JennyPenny22 · 24/02/2010 20:25

badgerhead - have now emailed!

satc - am I right in thinking thats about 30 mins or so south of horsham? Housing prices look good there...is it a nice area to live in?

fudgesmummy - East Grinstead off the list then!

Thanks for that, really helps.

Jenny - Yes thats right, about 30 mins away.

Yeah, it is a nice place to live. There are obviously nicer parts, but not too many 'dodgy' ones.

Plenty to do with the little ones and nice local schools.

Town centre not exactly the best, but good enough. For big shopping trips, I would head to Brighton & Crawley.

We had seen this house in burgess hill a while ago and thought it looked great for the price. But shame the garden isn't exactly child friendly. Good price though. DO you know this location? Haven't viewed it yet.

Yes, that road is one of the newer developments, nice area and very close to the town centre. I would be happy to live there.

Being a newer developement all the houses around there have smaller gardens except the big 4-5 bedroom ones.

Lots of families live there too.

We also have to compete with 4 big day nurserys with in the town. As I am accredited I support potential and newly registered childminders and always warn them that they might have trouble getting work. If you end up in this area we do have a very active network so you could apply to become accredited (if your not already of course )

Thank you. I don't mind the garden being small, would just prefer to have a plain Lawn rather than bushes and paving. TBH even a small garden is still somewhere to get outside, as we will be visiting parks etc all the time and I am not one for staying in all day. But would just like to have an outdoor area that is child friendly.
