hmmm I'm not sure about putting my stuff on the internet

atworknotworking · 23/02/2010 21:28

I had a look at this when it first launched, if you do a search you may be able to find the thread, as some other posters commented too.

Basically I didn't find it versatile for what I needed at the time, and the EYFS stuff was a bit limiting and not thorough enough for my needs, I also noticed that to upload photos into the EYFS info it required subscription to the data protection thingy and asked for £30 ish quids which I thought was a bit . The bookeeping and invoicing was also very basic and didn't give many options WRT frequency of invoicing. Sage is so much better.

I know that were planning to update or tweek some of the stuff, but havn't had another look.

will do a search, thank you awnw

I first looked at Nobleminder last year and must admit that I also thought it was a bit basic. I was recently sent a code to have another free trial so had a look and I hardly recognised the website - They've made loads of improvements and it's certainly much more user friendly. Well worth having a look.

atworknotworking · 09/03/2010 19:37

Thats interestingshelmic are you going to use it now? do you think it fits with how CM's work?

Shelmic · 11/03/2010 13:03

Hi atworknotworking I'm trailing Nobleminder nobleminder.co.uk at the moment and I think I will sign up to use it once the trail is over as I can see it being very useful. It's definitely worth having a go, you can always cancel if it's not working out - But for me, so far so good

ayla99 · 11/03/2010 13:34

But presumably when you cancel your subscription, you lose access to all your work as the info is stored on their server and not on your own pc? I'll probably do the trial at some point, its worth a look. But I can't afford to pay £10 a month/£120 a year especially as there is no way of knowing when and how often they might change the fees.

I was put off by the fact they store all the info. If the company goes out of business or suffers technical issues, I won't be able to access my stuff. I'd rather pay a little more for a product that is mine to keep and use as often as I like than to pay a long-term subscription indefinitely.

Bumnoise · 11/03/2010 14:36

I would be worried about who has access to the info you would be uploading and when you left that it would be floating around cyberspace.

Hi, I was in a bit of a rush when I replied yesterday so gave you a very brief reply. As I have a few minutes now I?ll elaborate ?

As I said I was sent a code by Nobleminder to have another trial. I looked at the site and was impressed with all the improvements they?d made. I decided to give it a proper try this time. I still had lots of concerns and questions so before I started I sent Nobleminder an Email asking about security, storage of information and fee increases. They answered all questions to my satisfaction. In fact they seem happy to answer any questions. Setting everything up can be a bit time consuming ? I did it over a weekend and even then when I had a problem (one of my mindees wasn?t straightforward) someone from Nobleminder rang back and spent over an hour on the phone with me talking me through everything I needed to know and sorted out my complicated billing. I think the EYFS observations are great ? I plan to print them off and put them in folders. Like anything else, you have to see what works for you and helps with the running of your business. I know I have to pay the money upfront. However, as I can claim 100% of the fees back as a business expense, I have nothing to loose and hopefully a very useful business tool to gain. Only time will tell, but I can?t really see any downside to it. I certainly think it?s worth doing a trail and see how you get on.
