Bed on the floor / mattress for mindee?

My mindee usually sleeps in the buggy (parent's choice), but he's getting a bit big for it now.

I don't want to let him sleep on the sofa as DD2 has Cbeebies rest time while he sleeps. I also can't face changing bed sheets on a daily basis.

My dds already have blow up ready beds but they tend to roll out of them. Does anyone have any recommendations for a bed/mattress on the floor?

I was thinking about getting him his own sleeping bag to use on dd2s bed, but would be acceptable in terms of seperate sheets?

We have a mindee who climbs into buggy when tired, does this at home so we go with the flo, we also have 2 travel cots and 3 sleep mats, the mindees have their own bedding, we also have a spare bed for older children but I think wev'e used it once in 4yrs for an older mindee in holiday club.

I would go for a sleep mat, they are well cushioned, washable and fold easily for storage and mindees can't fall out.

Sorry for hijack but I'm looking for a couple of mats - any recommendations?

atworknotworking a sleep mat sounds like a good plan, any recommendations would be most welcome

The rest beds look good but the mats easier to store

Oh fab, thanks for that I like the idea of the beds but storage not great for me plus tad expensive I think I'll have a couple of the mats though, thanks

Theres a few here for ideas, i've also been looking thewholekaboodle.com/results.cfm?secondary=111

If you look through I like the mat covers as well, but i'm sure i've seen a padded mat with sleeping bag attached but can't find it.

SNAP!! Was just on that website, has the same ones but a bit cheaper.

I also came back to ask people's opinion on this. Quite a bit cheaper but more importantly, would be easier for storage for ME. But, do you think they look like they'd be rubbish quality? I want the children to be comfy but I can't decide???

dobby2001 · 08/02/2010 23:21

If you shop around, you might find cheaper mats in camping or sports shops - the ones sold on the sites listed are quite thin at 2cm/20mm so if you have wood/laminate floors they might be quite cold to sleep on 4cm+ is more comfy and warmer.

I have used a my first ready bed, which has slightly raised sides and the sleeping bag attached only open the last third so children less likely to roll off. I have also (with her permission) used my daughter bed as it is quite low but with a sleeping bag on top of her made up bed, thus quicker to put away and DD happier as "her" bedding not being used by minded child.

the ones I have are a bit like these.

www.playring.co.uk/products/cat/12/product/286

they fold up into 3 so good for stacking, the kids use them for role play too making little dens, roley poleys and doctors etc.

Check your EYP doesnt have any before you buy, they often do a loan scheme for cots, safety gates, high chairs etc. I bought all of the above then found out about it . They last well have had mine 4yrs now and are still in good nick.

Just thought I saw some yoga mat things for £3 in Morrisons a while ago, they were quite thick too, they don't need to be super thick obv as children are lighter than adults IYSWIM.
