You don't need to show Ofsted your accounts. Do you have any children who have different cultures in their backgrounds. My inspector was really interested in this.

try to find online reports done previously by your inspector. that could help you find out what (s)he looks for (though prob a she!).

make sure lunch is ready for the children so that you don't have to panic about what to do for them ().

ask for her ID badge when she comes in and get her to sign the visitors' book when she leaves. give her quick fire safety talk (ie exits etc) and show her your floor plan and escape plan.

show her where the loo is as a matter of courtesy

good luck

Hi I think they are really hot on risk assessments for everything. Safeguarding children, starting points on mindees with EYFS, feedback from parents the list could go on but dont get me started!! They like treasure baskets, good thing to do when they are there. Good luck!!

Mine told me that most people slip up on not doing RAs for different types of outing and permission slips for Emergency Medical treatment.

I had all the paperwork, children's portfolio's, cleaning rotas etc ready on a side table for the inspector, which she seemed to appreciate and I excused myself to make notes in the baby's daily diary when I needed to.

If you're looking forward to the inspection then I think you're halfway there... I was too actually (once the SEF was done!), I was a bit nervous but wanted to get it ticked off and also wanted to get confirmation of what I was doing well/should improve on. I think if you have a positive attitude like that then it helps with the inspection - like the inspector asked me about the baby sleeping in the buggy - I explained it lay flat, parents approved, was in a quiet space etc and that I have a travel cot if baby's sleep needs change in the future and she said it was great that I'd clearly thought through the issues and had a back-up plan. So treating it like a discussion of my practise rather than 'trick questions' really worked.

Also, towards the end when I was tired I asked if it was ok to refer to my paperwork to answer one of her questions (she asked what I wanted to improve on and I got my setting improvement plan out), which she said was fine - and she actually wanted to find something to put in my report for a future action because she couldn't think of anything!

Sorry rambled on a bit, but hope that helps.
