Au Pairs

Hi everyone.

My brother has 50% residency of his twin sons and needs to arrange childcare on the days they are with him, he also struggles a bit with keeping up to date with the household chores as well as running his own business. I've suggested he look for an au pair so that she is there full time when he needs childcare, can help out around the house but will also have a lot of free time for herself. Does anybody know the best way for him to go about finding one and would they be put off by working/living with a single dad? The house is large enough for au-pair to have her own room etc and my brother works a lot and is away often (he's always at home the nights the boys are with him) so she would have a lot of time alone too.

Any ideas please? as to where to find one, my brother is in Essex.

Thanks.

Sorry, meant to ask if anyone has a rough idea what this option would cost?

Thanks

Solo dad with au pair here - though the fact that the kids are not there full time may be a bit off-putting. The role is not standard but if he is honest when he advertises the role he will probably find somebody that is interested.

See other threads for costs but in summary you are looking at £70 - £80 cash with about £50 of on costs (transport, food, phone, etc) per week.

Quite a few au pairs are men

Would he consider an 'au pair share'?

When the kids aren't with him, perhaps another local family may want help?

I am always getting offers to 'share' my own au pair (no chance!)
