I have a 5 month DS and work freelance sporadically around looking after him, so no regular childcare.

I have a job coming up in a european city for a client I really can't afford to turn down. I need to leave late afternoon and would get back late the following evening.

I actually only need childcare for the duration of a shortish meeting - would I be mad to take DS with me and get a professional nanny in Paris to look after him for me while I'm in the meeting (about 4 hours)? Is that a crazy idea? I would much rather have him with me (he's bf but will take a bottle if necessary).

DP is working very long hours, getting up very early, so it would be a question of getting someone here at 7am and having them stay till 7pm.

I'm in Brighton btw, in case a nice mnetting childminder out there has a suggestion.

yes mad to take child with you to paris, and then have the hassle of finding childcare there - though think frannikin is there at moment

far better to get a temp/ad hoc nanny/take to cm for the day

i am about an hour from brighton, i have worked there before on ad hoc days, though i charge travel time on top of my 4hr min fee, though sounds like you need 12hrs

if you want any more info or think i can help then please email me

Hello think you would be better finding someone local to do 7am-7pm for you and not having the extra worry of taking baby to paris with you.

I guess a nanny would be an easier solution as would come to your home and you would want someone very experienced and qualified as a one off and in Brighton would pay around £9-£12 an hr for a one-off maybe you could negotiate a 12hr daily rate but you are looking at around £120.

or a childminder but means you or husband getting out of house earlier and over to childminder and suppose you would pay around £5-£7 an hr for one-off care.
