Part Time Live In Nanny London

Does anyone have a part time live in nanny. We only need a nanny for 3 days a week and are considering whether to have a nanny or au pair. One option if I want to continue with the nanny option (need a driver and someone to help with reading and spelling)is to have a live in nanny. Does anyone have a live in nanny who only works part time? Also does anyone know what the going rate for a live in nanny in London is?

Thanks!

I think full-time live-in nannies go for between £250-350 per week net...

not sure about the part-time live-in nannies, but would imagine it'd be difficult as would they move between houses during the week?

would it be live-in full-time but work part-time? I'm a looking for a nanny job and it would be the sort of thing i would do, but the moving from house to house thing would be difficult, keeping a room/flat when your not there half the week, especially in london just too much hastle.

Hi
If we go for this option then I would expect the nanny to live in full time but only work for us part time and hopefully they could get another part time nanny job when not working for us.

I won't be looking for someone for a few months as our current nanny is still here but once she goes then i'll need to replace.

Thanks

i dont see any problems with what you describe, you should be able to find a nanny who wants to study part time or is happy to get a second job. Have you considered a nanny share?

I know two families who have this set-up. In both cases, the nannies live outside London and come into London for 3 or four nights a week. In both cases the nannies are a little bit older so semi-retired, I suppose.

I also know a family who have a nanny who lives in full-time but only works for them 3 days a week. The rest of the time she's a waitress.

Can't help you with pay rates but I think live-ins usually get 50% of whatever the going rate is, so in London I suppose that would be around £5/hour net. I'm sure someone better informed will give you a definitive answer.

Sorry, just realised that the first scenario isn't relevant to you.
