I'm very nearly sitting in the corner rocking myself gently all over "Language for Communication" EYFS!

This is the part of EYFS I really dislike!

Looking over my folders I don't have many observations connected to Language for Communication aspect of L&D in EYFS.

Can I check I have this right? Language for Communication is basically, stories, songs, poem, rymes and non verbal cues like expression dolls etc.

I have no observations on this sort of stuff because I probably sing about 10 songs a day and read more books than is humanely possible!
I have a few observations for this area, but mainly when we did something a bit "wow" like made a story board for eg. So does this mean from Ofsted's perspective that I'm not properly delivering this aspect of EYFS?

Ta v much.

here is the guidance

Perhaps you could observe the language, gestures, body laguage, signals, used over the course of one day by one child at a time.

This of course means taking your notebook bloody everywhere

sigh

I think maybe the problem is they are all under 2! I have a few on how they are linking words and one has just started to ramp it up using who sentences when he feels lie it.

I guess that will just have to be enough and I'll be quick to point out reading, songs, rhymes etc are part of our daily routine. One used my name to get my attention today rater than grabbing me hence me noticing the lack of obs on this.

I'm sure I could sit here and think of some that have occurred but I'm hoping my inspector wont be that anal!

My inspector didn't look to check I had observations for each aspect of the 6 areas (they'd be there all day if they did!), but it should be fairly easy to take notes on if you're aware its lacking... or, as the inspectors seem to like when you're aware of something that you could improve on, you could say 'reading, songs, rhymes etc are part of our daily routine, but I have realised that i don't have many observations that focus on the children's own communication, so I've been paying much more attention to that...'

My notes (for very 5 month old and 11 month old) say things like 'X said aaaaah' today when she was playing with her favourite toy, 'Y said 'da' as she handed me...', 'Z babbled to herself using a stream of different sounds while she played in the sand'.

Any help?

Jesus, I'm freaking out about how many notes people take about their mindees, I really hadn't taken all this into consideration when I decided to become a CM!!
