Childcare for twins and a todder - WWYD?

Bit of advance planning here, but not sure what my childcare options are going to be with twins and a 3yo, and unsurprisingly a limited amount of funds.
Currently use a CM and a nursery, but I seriously doubt I could pay for three at once.
It seems to me that the best option would be a nanny, but would a nanny be interested in three little ones (it will be another year before oldest goes to school)?
I don't have any family nearby, so no assistance there.

Any thoughts/suggestions gratefully received.

i would be more than happy to look after baby twins and a toddler

with 3 children a nanny is def the best/cheapest childcare option and so much easier to have a nanny come to yours and organise+get the children ready - rather than you have to get all 4 of you to get out of house

depending on what area you are in and the age and exp of the nanny, will depend on what you will end up paying - anything from £10-15grossph

what hours/days do you need?

sure nick will be along with figures

Get a nanny no question. Tailored to your family, your routine etc. Not sure where you are but in London this would be the cheapest route for 3 and many good nannies with this kind of experience.

I am a CM, but I think a nanny is probably your best option.

as a nanny i would also be very happy to look after a toddler and twins....

lots of nannys look after 3 or more children, maybe because once you have 3 children it becomes the cheaper option, so dont worry about not finding a nanny who will want to do it!

Thanks for all your advice. I'm in East Surrey (zone 6 London). Ideal scenario would be 5 days 8 to 6.30 ish.
It's good to hear that the thought of 8 mo-ish twins and a 3 almost 4 yo won't send most nannies running to the hills.

Agree a nanny will be your best option and depending on if you want someone new to nannying maybe with a couple of years nursery experience some with babies or whether you want a nanny experienced with caring for twins or 3 children aged between 8mths and 4yrs at once. You would pay from £9 gross for the less experienced upto £15 an hr gross for someone very experienced.

Do you get childcare vouchers through work? It may be worth once you found the right canditate getting them ofsted registered as this will save you money esp if paying £450-£750 gross a week on childcare.

my friend lives in croydon i get her to message you

playftseforme · 16/01/2010 09:09

Thanks Tiggergirl! It's a small world

Eastmids - I didn't realise I could use vouchers w an Ofsted registered nanny - they've been a lifesaver with our CM and now at nursery with dd. That's v helpful to know.

Yes can use them for ofsted registered nannies last family I night nannied for with twins paid their daily nanny with childcare vouchers think the dad had them through his work and was able to pay from his voucher account into her bank account or something like that - obv didnt cover her full wage but helped a great deal. (by the way they also have a 4yr and 11yr old and nanny was more than willing to work with 4 children)
