nightmare drive to work

i left my house at 7am today to do a 10min journey as snowed soooooooooooooo much last night

i got stuck 15mins later and had to be pushed out by 3 men, as well as getting stuck 20mins later and did a 180* sliding turn down a little slope - that was scarey

eventaully had to abanden my car a mile from work and rang mb and they came to get me in the 4 by 4

mb worked from home today, i took kids to school in db 4 by 4 , my work car is a s max and lovely to drive ,but crap in the snow

4 by 4 was slipping down the drive so got out to put more grit down and car started to slide down the drive with kids in it

mb jumped in car to make it stop - thank god she did - took hour to do 10mins as traffic so bad, i helped dig out 2 cars as well as push a car up the hill , to then fall flat on my hands and knees when car moved lol

dropped off kids and then school rang 45mins later to say school was closing (tbh they shouldnt have opened it)

picked up kids and had a day at home and then mb dropped me off at my car at 4pm

i could have easily said after first getting stuck, i was going home, but i didnt,i knew that mb had important conference and ended having a conference call from home instead

thank god i dont work thursdays and hope by monday all the snow will go

i will always try to get to work,as both my mb/db have busy jobs and tbh if i dont get in, they cant work and they also APPREICATE me making an effort

hope everyone else got to work ok

Sounds like you had an eventful journey. Glad you didn't injure yourself, or anyone else.

Mine was reasonable, went the very long way via Motorways, took a little under an hour. Normally I go through the village and it takes 20 minutes.

Have been out for the past 3 hours helping a couple of my neighbours to dig out as much ice as possible from our street. It's still quite terrible but at least there are now points where wheels will get traction.

What a nightmare. I've been so lucky, there's lots of black ice about at the moment so I've been taking the train to work instead and my lovely P has been driving me to the station - he loves driving in snow! I hauled myself in today to meet my colleagues coming the other way, the boiler was broken and we'd all been sent home..
Keep safe everyone!

This morning it took me nearly 2 hours to drive 7 miles. It normally takes 15 minutes.

I was so not impressed

Luckily I live in, so no nightmare commutes for me, but I have been hearing so many nightmare stories about how atrocious it is in the UK! I'm in Amsterdam and it is fricking freezing here, with icy bridges and frozen canals to contend with. But we've got it great compared to you guys! Hope it improves for you all soon

yes indeed eventful nick lol

thankfully rain has come today and lots of it, so snow is finally melting

so come monday when im back to work, all should be back to normal and i can leave 10mins before i start work, rather than an hour
