Had a google this came up

www.confused.com/guides/motoring/car-insurance/what-are-the-car-insurance-classes-of-use-1624644778

Can't think what ours is, but have a vague feeling it's C3 as well.

navyeyelasH · 13/01/2010 19:01

I have no idea why you might need that Katy. Mine is class 2 if that helps?

Katymac · 13/01/2010 19:10

I have a 5 seater Minibus, for insurance purposes. It's commonly known as a car! Class 3 is for transporting goods, not people. I presume it is children you are transporting, so would it not need MiniBus insurance? May be worth calling MM to see what quote they would give... mine wasn't greatly higher than other insurers and has the reassurance that it does cover me for transporting children for whom I am paid to transport as part of my job.

thanks Nick - I will give them a ring

But I am very suspicious tbh

We pay around the £600 a year figure with mm as well company is called Bluefin who they use.

SillyMillysMummy · 16/01/2010 09:02

What kind of car is it katy?

Katymac · 16/01/2010 10:54

Fiat Uylesses - 7 seater - the problem is I want named drivers

Have you tried calling a local broker. They may be able to shop around for you more with specialised business insurers.
Possibly companies like Drayton Insurance Services, Alan Boswell Group.

Multiple named drivers I think will cost you quite a lot though. I am presuming you are wanting more than two named drivers.

Katymac · 16/01/2010 11:48

BTW MM made no mention of class 3 (I'll check the docs when they get here)
The local broker was higher than MM

No mention of class 3 - post just arrived & the premium was £100 less

so I am much happier

I'm not surprised that MM didn't mention class 3, as Class 3 I feel is for Goods... not people. MM has arranged something different, such that the underwriters cover you for Social, Domestic, Pleasure and in connection with your business excluding private hire. It's something like that... such that passengers for whom you are paid as part of your work are covered... yet if you put a taxi sign on your roof you would not be covered.

squiby2004 · 16/01/2010 13:18

God thats a big quote. I drive a BMW X5 and use it for CMing so have it on class 1 insurance. They wont insure my sort of car without a tracker as its a high theft vehicle and I live in the London suburbs and I only pay £500 a year!

Katymac · 16/01/2010 13:26

It's for 4 named drivers

Does anyone have any points or convictions? We have 3 on ours and everybody has a clean license.

Katymac · 16/01/2010 15:45

Nearly all of them have 1 speeding (all three or more years ago but they still count)
