Been out in the snow

Then sat children down in front of DVD for 20 mins & it's the first time in about 4 years the telly has been on

Does that make me awful?

Mine did that while they drank their hot chocolate after getting freezing cold yesterday. I think they had covered all their early learning goals out in the garden!

Mine have Cbeebies or a video for an hour every afternoon after lunch (2pm - 3pm).
Young children need adequate time for rest, especially after an indoor and outdoor play filled morning and a big cooked dinner.
TV helps them to relax, they enjoy it as a part of a balanced day, some of them nod off whilst watching, and it gives me time to clear away lunch and to prepare the messy play table for the rest of our day's activities.

No you are not awful.

I find that there are some very interesting programmes on tv (childrens). Some kids enjoy watching the programme they watch at home. ie In the night garden, I myself love to watch the tweenies. T.v in moderation!!

I am sure you have lots of other activities going on so stop feeling guilty!!

No you are not awful. I'll tell what is though. Our Junior school head-teacher decided he would keep the school open all this week, when the LA advised that all schools should close (on Tuesday/Wednesday all did except this one). There were hardly any teachers in so the pupils mostly watched DVDs, and were not allowed to play out for H & S reasons. The infant school, on the same site but with a different Head-teacher, was closed.
