grants for chilminders - improving facilities for mindees with disabilities

I am a community childminder. Most of my mindees are referred by SS.
I provide bridging or respite care and often care for some very vulnerable children including those with disabilities.
I wondered if anyone knows of a charity I could apply to in order for us to improve our playroom (which is freezing.)
We have a cellar underneath the playroom and during this really cold snap I have noticed how cold the whole downstairs feels if the playroom door is open.
We refurbished the room in the summer...it has a wooden floor with mats and cushions etc!
For some of the less able and more physically impaired children, comfort and floor space is vital.....
Any ideas gratefully received.

Contact your early years team at the council

Also the SWs might know of some grants

Business Link also has a list of grants (through a grant finder on their website)

I can't help with grants but sympathise about your playroom, same problem here as it's a conservatory. I do try and keep it much warmer but it's not easy. Not that it seems to bother the kids though!

Good luck x

What county are you in as in gloucestershire there is plenty of money available for improvements when minding disabled children.

Definitely speak to Early Years at the Council, as they may have some cash stashed away. Otherwise, you could see if your local Children's Centre can help you out in any way.

Thanks all
I'm going to ask my network co-ordinator too.

I thought I might have read an article in a recent who minds magazine about a charity providing cash for this kind of thing......
