Interested in what my nanny will be hearing this week. We are in SW London. We managed a small 3% which puts her on 35K. Not a great year for us and DH awaiting redundancy news.

Your nanny is on 35K?????????????????

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2010 12:49

35k is normal/average for a 5day nanny with exp - works out about £100 a day nett, so £500nett or £673 gross a week

yes £35k is a lot to pay out of a mb/db salary

hope your nanny appreicates you k75 and hope dh doesnt lose his job x

K75 · 03/01/2010 14:02

Thanks blondes. I think we are appreciated and our nanny likewise. Hope you are also working for a nice mb/db.

my family are fabby - been with them just over 3.5years - no 3 came 18mths ago

i only work 3 days but sometimes mb needs to work a friday so we swap days if i am free, and she does the same for me - its give and take but i am def part of their family and i love working for them and i know mb/db appreciates me as much as i do them

win win situation

Strix · 04/01/2010 10:05

No raise for my nanny, but she got a work reduction as DS starts school full time tomorrow. (sniff sniff, where has my baby gone?)

So, same pay but less work.

Simplyme · 04/01/2010 17:52

My payrise was due in the summer as thats when I started working for my family originally but I lost out on the payrise due to unusual circumstances ;(

However I just received a lovely Christmas bonus and letter of appreciation from my family which means the world to me

teza267 · 06/01/2010 16:46

Not only didnt I get any payrise (2nd year) but no present either!

I know it is not about a present itself... but the feeling of being appreciated has gone

Have been with the family for over 6 years, looking after 4 kids.....and I didn't even get Christmas card from them.

Feel really sad and now seriosuly started to think about leaving them...

LouHasSixWhiteBoomers · 06/01/2010 16:48

No bonus and no raise for me, but got a nice Christmas pressie though

K75 · 06/01/2010 19:11

Yikes Teza you must be mad to put up with 4 kids and not get anything and still be there!! Def not like the nannies round here!

K75, you make me sound like some kind of a monster nanny.
Is there anything wrong with trying to be a good nanny?

I don't get your comment "def not like nannies round here".

I was just saying what happened to me. Already feel sad about it so no need to be "smart"

BoffinMum · 06/01/2010 22:25

No Xmas present??
No card???

We even gave our hopeless nanny who left slightly in disgrace some chocs.

What a mean family you work for.

nbee84 · 06/01/2010 22:51

teza - I think K75 was actually sympathising with you and pointing out what a good nanny you are to be staying in a job where you do not feel particularly valued. I think the 'nannies round here' comment meant that nannies round her way would be off like a shot if they didn't get big Xmas prezzies and pay rises.

theoriginalmummypoppins · 07/01/2010 12:01

agree with nbee I think thats the way it was meant.

Our nanny who had been with us 8 weeks got a weeks salary net in cash , a bottle of wine and a box of hotelchoc chocs , smellies from the chidren and a clarins gift set from me and DB.

She came back to work on Monday and never mentioned it !

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2010 13:18

ditto think k75 was saying you are fab to put up with it

i expect a card whether birthday or christmas and a pressie+bonus is lovely which i do get

mp - she didnt even say thanks?

i texted mb/db on xmas day to say thanks for my lovely pressies (got a few) and bonus and they replied wlcome and thanks for my gifts to them

theoriginalmummypoppins · 07/01/2010 14:34

I am not bithered. I actually think she is very shy and didnt know what to say !

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2010 14:39

thank you would have been a start

ps hows diet going? i weigh tomorrow

K75 · 07/01/2010 19:11

Teza, apologies if it didn't come across well; as nbee says I was sympathising and commenting that the nannies I know would be long gone if they didn't get so much as a thank you (and prob if they didn't like the present and the bonus too!!). You are very professional but you should probably consider for your own wellbeing if you are in the right position.

Delights of trying to do things too quickly!

Apologies too.

I'm a bit touchy at the moment as started the process of registering with agencies.
Going to tell the family I'll be leaving my position.
Will give them 3 months notice which I think gives them plenty of time to find someone new.
I'm just heartbroken at the prspect of leaving children.

I have been thinking about leaving for some time now but always pushed it to back of my mind.

Oh dear..

BoffinMum · 08/01/2010 20:23

For the record, I am actually getting one of the few British people getting a payrise this year, in my capacity as a Boffin.

It works out at about £2 a week.

We did not get a Christmas party or presents or a card where I work, not even a measly mince pie. Instead we were invited to donate money to charity instead of doing our own cards. We also got a letter saying our pensions were at risk. And notification that car park charges were going up and that our workloads were under review and possibly to increase.

I have to say I don't exactly feel valued. No Clarins gift set, wine or bonus for me or my fellow boffs ...
